System Analyst

Role Description


The Systems Analyst encapsulates several specific responsibilities including:

  • Working on partner sites as a Conferma Pay employee ensuring a smooth and well supported remote environment
  • Acting as first line support for our partner, solving as many queries and problems as they occur. Acting as effective triage to identify and categorise any issues that require escalating to the in-house Conferma Pay team
  • This will include installation questions, SQL Server investigations, Operating System faults
  • Support software rollouts to the partner sites
  • Monitoring key platforms via the NMS (network monitoring system) & reporting off the back of it.
  • Assisting with the datacentres environment hosted in our partner’s datacentre. This includes a mix of Microsoft Server Server 2016, Linux, VMware
  • IIS management, which entails creating new sites, assigning the relevant IP addresses
  • An ability to produce monthly capacity planning reports based off the information available from the NMS platform. This includes identifying trends and predicting future planning required to maintain system availability of the Conferma platform.
  • Processing Change Requests as they are raised and scheduling deployments for QA, CTE and Production environments ensuring all changes are checked and deployed according to implementation plans, raising any discrepancies when required.
  • Configuring and maintaining QA, CTE & Production virtual platforms, including the design and deployment of new servers, sites and services.
  • Responsible for the encryption of websites in the IIS environment to ensure no connection string is viewable from the configuration files.
  • Audit log collection of real time information & reporting for Windows Servers / hardware which forms as part of the SOC (Security Operations Centre). All servers in the platform are required to send audit information in real time to a log collection server. The implementation, management & scheduled reporting on this is maintained by the Infrastructure Team.
  • Assisting in internal / external audits and document requests
  • Monitoring key platforms via the NMS (network monitoring system) & reporting off the back of it.
  • Managing the Conferma Datacentres environment. Which includes a mix of Microsoft Server Server 2016, Linux, VMware
  • IIS management, which entails creating new sites, assigning the relevant IP addresses
  • Use of the Microsoft WSUS platform & scheduling critical patches for deployments across the Conferma platform.
  • Management of the Anti-Virus administration sever which governs all servers across the platform. This includes scheduling scans, quarantining any suspected viruses and reporting off the back of this.
  • Administration of a VMware platform using V-Motion & ESXi 6.5. All virtualised servers in the Conferma platform utilise this technology.

  • TLS certificate administration for external facing websites
  • Responsible for the encryption of websites in the IIS environment to ensure no connection string is viewable from the configuration files.

All servers in the platform are required to send audit information in real time to a log collection server.   • Develop plugins for the logging platform to monitor logs for Conferma specific needs.
  • Assisting in internal / external audits and document requests

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Minimum of 4 years SQL Server Development experience
  • Strong time management skills, ability to work off own initiative
  • Strong communication skills from all levels of the business, both technical and non-technical
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Strong experiencing in the use of SSRS/SSIS to develop new reports as well as troubleshoot existing reports.
  • Flexible, highly organised and able to work to deadlines under pressure
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Database design (error handling, transactions, locking levels etc)
  • Design and creation of Stored Procedures, Views, Functions for SQL Server 2012 and 2016
  • Experience of Database performance analysis
  • Database design within high transactional business models
  • Strong understanding of developing securely written reports.

Desirable Experience

  • Confidence in Backups (of all types) and restores, to further secure the estate.
  • Have gained Microsoft qualification, preferably to MCSE level
  • Experience of SQL database warehousing, SSIS to develop BI environments.
  • Experience of SQL 2016 deployment and administration
  • Experience of creating, troubleshooting and maintaining PowerShell scripts
