About the Role

An DevOps Engineer is required to work as part of the wider Operations teams within the Conferma business, integrating with several departments. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good working technical skills of Microsoft operating systems, both desktop and server. The successful candidate will need to have experience in the administering and implementing DevOps processes utilising industry recognised tools.

 

The DevOps Engineer will closely work with the other members of the Conferma Operations departments to implement and maintain the features required for each department involved in the DevOps process.

 

A key responsibility includes monitoring existing Network Management Systems (NMS) and respond to alarms and escalate when necessary. Assist in the maintenance of NMS and other network infrastructure tools to provide accurate monitoring of DevOps Performance and provide monthly reports.

 

The DevOps Engineer will be required to oversee maintenance and support to the multiple Conferma platforms that make up the DevOps Process. Monitoring key systems for performance and maintenance.

 

A key part of the of the DevOps Engineer role is to oversee deployments of sites and services that are presented as part of the CAB process. This includes changes that are required to be made in both Certification and Production environments and providing support and assistance to issues that may be present. These products will either be boarded into the DevOps process or require planning and preparation to be compatible with the required process.

Primary Responsibilities

The DevOps Engineer encapsulates several specific responsibilities including:

  • Monitoring key platforms via the NMS (network monitoring system) & reporting off the back of it.
  • IIS management, which entails creating new sites, assigning the relevant IP addresses
  • Management of industry DevOps tools – Azure DevOps, TeamCity and Octopus Deploy
  • Supporting Junior DevOps Engineers with their learning and progression
  • Processing Change Requests as they are raised and scheduling deployments for Certification and Production environments ensuring all changes are checked and deployed according to implementation plans, raising any discrepancies when required.
  • Configuring and maintaining Conferma HQ, Development & Test virtual platforms, including the design and deployment of new servers, Conferma sites and services.
  • Experience of working in DevOps for deployments of sites and applications.

Security Role Definition

  • TLS certificate administration in a Windows environment
  • Audit log collection of real time information & reporting for Windows Servers / hardware which forms as part of the Conferma SOC (Security Operations Centre). All servers in the Conferma platform are required to send audit information in real time to a log collection server. The implementation, management & scheduled reporting on this is maintained by the Infrastructure Team.
  • Assisting in internal / external audits and document requests
  • Suggesting and investigating technologies to ensure ongoing compliance with the SHMS Policy.

  • Identifying trends and patterns and being able to escalate issues without being prompted.
  • Ability to develop new skills to aid the progress of new platforms and systems used by Conferma.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD tooling (eg TeamCity, Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy)
  • Hands on experience with Cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor, coach, team building.
  • A passion for technology, automation and continuous innovation.
